Lee has a very positive attitude. He also has a PhD from the University of Chicago. The poor fellow should have applied himself in school. This country is chock full of interesting folks who have so much to offer! If we tapped into even a small percentage of it we would have reserves! Once again, another upbeat attitude of gratitude! Way to go America! Thanks Lee! I’ll go see a holiday show just on your recommendation.

My point is that I thought the “The poor fellow should have applied himself in school” was a bit weird and in the context of your short paragraph not obviously sarcasm. Maybe I am not bright enough or witty enough, I only have an honours degree with a double major.
I too will be going to a holiday show with my family – the consumerism at Christmas time has hit new highs and I find it quite offensive. Best wishes for Christmas
